David AnthonyDirector -
David Anthony is Managing Partner of 21 Ventures, LLC, an early stage technology venture capital firm, founded by David in 2003 and based in NYC, with an additional office in Tel Aviv, Israel. David is an experienced entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and educator. Mr. Anthony also sits on the Board of several companies.
David is an Adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). The Academy, based in Manhattan, brings together scientists of different disciplines from around the world to advance the understanding of science, technology, and medicine. He also serves as entrepreneur-in-residence at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Business.
In 1995, David launched Notorious Entertainment, a developer of multimedia brands, which published the internationally distributed magazine Notorious, and developed an early streaming website. In 1998, he sold the company to entertainment mogul Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs and ran the company for 2 subsequent years.
David received his MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1989 and a BA in Economics from George Washington University in 1982. He is an entrepreneurship mentor at the Land Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. In 2002, he was awarded the Distinguished Mentor of the Year Award from Columbia University. Mr. Anthony is also a member of the New Leadership Network of AIPAC, American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. -
Robert HamlenDirector -

Dr. Hamlen has served as a Director since 2005. He is currently Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee.
Dr. Hamlen has a B.S. from Lafayette College, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Johns Hopkins and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. He is recognized and respected throughout the world for his knowledge of batteries and portable power. His extensive commercial and government career spans many high-profile organizations including General Electric, EXXON, ALCAN and the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics R&D Center at Fort Monmouth, N.J., and Ft. Belvoir, Va., where he was the Chief of Army Power Division. Dr. Hamlen holds over 20 patents and has received many prestigious awards, including an R&D 100 Award in 1989 for an undersea emergency power source, the Army Materiel Command Commander's Award for Civilian Service in 2002, the Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 2005, and the Frank Booth Medal at the International Power Sources Symposium in Brighton, UK in 2005.

Martin G. KleinFounder & Chief Technologist -

Marty Klein is an internationally recognized expert in the battery-fuel cell field with over 40 years of experience as an engineer-entrepreneur. He founded EEI in 1992 to develop and commercialize a novel concept for bipolar nickel-metal hydride batteries and has managed the technical and business direction of the company as Chairman of our Board of Directors and our Chief Executive Officer from 1992 to 2006. Mr. Klein currently is our Chief Technologist and serves on the Board of Directors. He has over 40 years of experience in the advanced battery field. In 1970, prior to forming EEI, Mr. Klein was one of the founding principals of Energy Research Corporation (now Fuel Cell Energy Inc.) and served as its Executive Vice President through 1990 and as a director through 1992. Mr. Klein has developed and worked on several battery chemistries and fuel cell systems. Prior to his association with Energy Research Corporation, he held positions in the battery field at U.S. Army Signal Corps, Yardney Electric Corp., Electrochimica Corp., and Electro Optical Systems. Mr. Klein, considered an expert in the field of electrochemistry, has contributed to many of the fundamental reference books on the subject and has authored numerous technical papers. Mr. Klein provided consulting services and served as an assistant professor at Rutgers University from 1990 to 1992. Mr. Klein holds more than 15 patents in the field of advanced electrochemical systems and has a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

Bruce L. LevChairman -

Bruce L. Lev has served as a director since June 5, 2007. Mr. Lev is a Managing Director of Loeb Partners Corp., New York City. Prior thereto he was Vice Chairman and a Director of USCO Logistics, a world leader in providing integrated logistics services. From 1995 through early 2000 Mr. Lev was Executive Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs of Micro Warehouse Inc., a $2.5 billion direct marketer of brand name personal computers and accessories to commercial and consumer markets. He also served on the Micro Warehouse four-person Executive Committee with global responsibility for legal and regulatory affairs, human resources, corporate communications, risk management and facilities. From 1995 through 2002 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Roper Organization and served on the Board of the Direct Marketing Association. Prior to 1995, Mr. Lev engaged in the private practice of law. During this time he was instrumental in the acquisition of USCO Logistics division of Uniroyal by a group of private investors and the initial formation of Micro Warehouse. He is a 1965 graduate of Wesleyan University and a 1968 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Lev is a member of the Connecticut, Virginia and Supreme Court bars and serves on the boards of directors of AirDat, LLC, Flagler Construction Co, LLC, and Open Labs, LLC.

Mike was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2006. He was appointed a member of the Board of Directors in June 2006. He joined EEI in May 2005 as President and Chief Operating Officer of EEI Technologies, Inc. He has over 35 years experience in the battery industry in various technical, operational and general management roles. His international experience includes transitioning advanced technology products and manufacturing from research and development to commercialization.
Prior to joining Electro Energy, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of EaglePicher Horizon Batteries, LLC, where he directed the start-up of an advanced technology battery facility in Beijing, China. At Johnson Controls, Mike served as an expatriate General Manager of Johnson Controls' South American Battery Operations headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Before that, Mike held several technical, operations and general management positions within Johnson Controls, Exide Corporation, and the Delco Remy Division of General Motors Corporation.
Mike holds a BSChE in chemical engineering from Purdue University and a MBA from Indiana University. -
Lawrence G. SchafranDirector -

Mr. Schafran serves on the Company's Audit Committee. Mr. Schafran has extensive experience in the financial markets, corporate governance and is a member of the Board of Directors of several other publicly-traded companies. Mr. Schafran currently is Managing General Partner of Providence Recovery Partners, a New York-based investment fund. He also serves as a Director and Audit Committee Chairman of PubliCARD, Inc., and Tarragon Corporation (NASDAQ: TARR), both publicly traded companies. In recent years, Mr. Schafran served in several capacities including as a Trustee, Chairman/Interim-CEO/President and Co-Liquidating Trustee of the Special Liquidating Trust of Banyan Strategic Realty Trust; Director/Chairman of the Executive Committee of Dart Group Corporation, Shoppers Food Warehouse, Inc. and COMSAT Corporation and was recently appointed as a Director of RemoteMDx, Inc. (OTCBB: RMDX), where he chairs the Audit Committee.

William B. (Bill) WylamDirector -

Mr. William B. (Bill) Wylam is recognized as a leading expert in batteries and advanced automotive electrical systems technology. Bill served as Chief Engineer-Batteries, Director of International Manufacturing, and Director of Technology Development for the Delco Remy Division of General Motors Corporation. He led the development of many electric and hybrid-electric powertrain systems including the motor and battery system for the GM EV1 electric vehicle. These systems included advanced motor-generators, power electronics and energy storage systems. From 1998 until his retirement in 2005 Bill was Corporate Director-Technology with Delco Remy International (now Remy International).
Mr. Wylam is also President of International Energy, LLC and the Chairman of Electricore, Inc., an Indiana-based not-for-profit corporation which organizes public-private partnerships to conduct research and development projects in the area of advanced technology. Since being founded in 1992, Electricore has managed projects totaling over $150 million. He is also a director of the Flagship Enterprise Center, a new Certified Technology Park in Anderson, Indiana, and a member of the Dean's Industry Advisory Council of the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI.
Mr. Wylam has a degree in Materials Science Engineering from Purdue University and was awarded am Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from Purdue in May of 2006.
